So we have been looking at the new HDX-on-a-Chip zero clients from nComputing. Specifically the n400 and n500 units. So far my team has been pretty pleased with the overall user experience. Dil hai chota sa mp3 song. A recent firmware update greatly improved the overall performance of the device, specially in terms of boot up time. LAN cable must use straight for Host M 300 to client, also same in PC to Host connectivity. I have always installed nComputing X550 on Windows XP (Service Pack 2) since 2011. My first attempt at trying it on Windows 7 fell flat. I consulted a couple of ‘experts’ on this and I was convinced that ncomputing X550 was designed strictly for Windows XP. One thing to note is the n400 only supports single monitors, and 720p video. The n500 supports dual monitors and full 1080p video (and 802.11) These devices are VERY attractive from a price point, compared to other devices from vendors like Dell/Wyse or HP. NComputing recently released a management tool that allows admins to mass deploy firmware updates from a central (or peer-to-peer) location. In my opinion, this is a very important tool cause manually updating hundreds or even thousands of end points would be painful. The management software requires JRE 7, and Tomcat 7 (Tomcat on Windows, bleh), which are part of the vSpace install. It requires Server 2008 R2 SP1. Ziton software planner 5d. However, I came across an error during the install. I noticed if I chose an Advanced install, and excluded Tomcat, the install would finish without error, however vSpace would not run because there wasn't a back end web service available. Solution: I worked with my nComputing SE and the issue is related to Access Control. Since the management software is packaged as an.msi, there is no prompt for elevated privileges. You must go into the Control Panel --> User Account and set the User Account Control Settings to 'Never Notify'. Reboot the server and then try the install again. Everything should install properly. I suspect nComputing will correct this shortly. All-in-all vSpace Management is pretty straight forward and easy to use. There is LDAP integration, and the ability to create groups and profiles. This gives admins the ability to stagger firmware deployments. Below is a link to a 30 day eval and a link to a comparison chart for the n400 and n500. If you are in the market for thin/zero clients, I would highly recommend you take a look at nComputing. I am considering creating the following setup • A Windows 2012 R2 x64 server • The NComputing vSpace server + the MS Office Suite (standard) + some custom sofware • Being accessed by up to 40 users working mostly on Windows 7 PCs (current - no fresh license required) • The same 40 users also accessing their personal workspaces from their Android devices via the Android client. The Windows 2012 R2 installation will come as part of the Cloud VPS package I will be getting from Vultr. It is not clear to me what MS licenses I need to get for this setup.
